The Belline Law Firm is an Atlanta based boutique law firm that specializes in complex removal defense, family, and humanitarian-based immigration cases. We also provide legal services for family and custody matters, criminal defense and post-conviction relief, and select civil cases. Formerly known as The Law Office of Peter R. Hill, P.C., in March 2018, Attorney Marguerite Belline acquired Mr. Hill’s law practice upon his semi-retirement from the practice of law and move to Seattle, Washington. Mr. Hill remains a part of The Belline Law Firm as the “Of Counsel” Attorney. A member of the State Bar of Georgia since 2007, Ms. Belline is uniquely qualified to handle these areas of law, particularly as the areas of criminal and immigration law commonly intersect.

Marguerite K. Belline, Attorney At Law – Born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Ms. Belline lived in Pennsylvania and New Jersey before moving to Georgia to attain her undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia and law degree from the Georgia State University College of Law. She is fluent in Spanish and, as part of her undergraduate studies, she completed a social development comparison study based in Las Higueras, Xalapa, Veracruz, Mexico.  During her time in Mexico, she also stayed with extended family in Nezahualcoyotl, Mexico, which served to broaden her love for the Mexican culture.  The firm’s logo is near and dear to her heart, as it is derived from a Mexican coin given to her as a child which bears the symbol of Quetzalcoatl, a Mesoamerican deity commonly known as the giver of knowledge and empowerment.  At The Belline Law Firm, we strive to uphold these disciplines as we sequimos en la lucha (we continue in the fight) for our clients against the harsh immigration consequences of criminal convictions and the application of unjust U.S. immigration policies.

In her spare time, Ms. Belline enjoys spending time with her husband, two daughters, three dogs and cat.  She also regularly practices hot yoga to decompress from the frustration that stems from the regular practice of immigration law.  She is a current member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (GACDL), the Lawyer’s Club of Atlanta, and she serves on the City of Avondale Estates Board of Appeals.  She is admitted to practice before the Georgia State Courts, The Georgia Court of Appeals, The Supreme Court of Georgia, The U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia and The U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Georgia.

Peter R. Hill, Of Counsel – Prior to his semi-retirement, Attorney Peter Reed Hill had over 28 years of experience in immigration and criminal law in addition to extensive Federal Court experience challenging arbitrary immigration decisions.  He was the author of the immigration law section of the leading treatise of Georgia State Criminal Law: “Daniel’s Georgia Criminal Trial Practice.”  Originally from Rhinebeck, New York, Mr. Hill and his wife were residents of the Atlanta area for over thirty years prior moving to Seattle, Washington.  Ms. Hill has lived abroad in Barcelona, Spain, in Germany, and Russia. He is an avid fly fisherman and golfer.
